G R E A T J O B!
Our annual Read-a-thon fundraiser was held Friday, November 20, 2015. This was an all day, whole school event that celebrated a love of literature through a variety of reading activities. This year our theme was "Love of Literature.” Our students rotated through twelve sessions and saw many teachers during the day. This is always a fun and exciting event for Glen Oaks!
This fundraiser helps us add more books, NOOKs, ebooks, and audio books to our collection and we are so thankful to everyone who donated funds. This year our students raised over $1700 for new books and materials for our library.
Congrats to 5D and 2D for being the top two fundraising classrooms! They each earned a $25 gift certificate for the Spring Book for classroom books! Here are the top three fundraising students.
First place: Jessica G from 5D. She won a $25 Scholastic gift card.
Second place: Kalleigh M. from 2D. She won a $15 Scholastic gift card.
Third place: Trevor A from 5F and he won a $10 Scholastic gift card.
We are proud to have an amazing collection of books, digital media, and materials which is due in part to the funds raised at our yearly Read-a-thon.
Thank you for your support!
This year our students will once again partipate in the Scripps National Spelling Bee. The classroom Spelling Bees will be held during Library Media class the week of Dec 7-11, 2015. Here's how it works:

The Scholastic Book Fair will be November 3-6, 2015!
Contact your child's teacher for their scheduled visit.
Thanks to the Glen Oaks PTA for organizing and hosting this event.
