some things about Oak Ridge that will hopefully make your transition to our
school a little easier. We are a 2-5 building with approximately 550
students. We have an excellent staff that provides an quality
education to our culturally diverse population. We offer services for
students with special needs, those who have a limited proficiency in
English, and for students who are gifted. In addition all students
participate in PE, Fine Arts, and Media classes. We have a very active
PTA who always welcomes new volunteers. There are some things you should know about
the day-to-day routines at Oak Ridge. They are as follows: School hours are 8:30 – 2:45. We would like to have the students at school by 8:25 so the students are ready to start the day promptly at 8:30. If students arrive after the 8:30 bell we ask parents to bring their students into the building and sign them in. We do offer a lunch service so students can purchase a lunch here or bring one from home. Menus are published monthly. Our behavior program is PBIS – Positive Behavior Intervention Systems. This program stresses our expectations for students. It offers incentives to students who follow expectations. It also outlines consequences for students who choose not to follow those expectations. Our school motto is: BE SAFE, CARING, RESPECTFUL, HERE AND READY (To learn). Students follow these expectations in every area of the school not just the classroom. The expectations include the Academic areas as well. We have a Health Clerk available on a daily basis. Bus passes will be distributed at the Oak Ridge if your child will be riding the bus.
