Mr. Carson's Favorite Healthy Foods
On this page you will find my favorite healthy fruits and vegetables. I will add one fruit and one vegetable per month. If your child comes to me in PE and tells me what the monthly vegetable or fruit was, I will give him/her a cougar ticket! Maybe you can give them a try in your home for lunch or dinner!
October's Healthy Foods
- Vegetable - Broccoli: Broccoli is my favorite vegetable to eat. I love the different ways you can cook it and the healthy benefits they give you. Broccoli is full of nutrients such as potassium, fiber, vitamin C, vitamin K and iron. I love to steam it with a little bit of olive oil and lemon on it. Very tasty side dish!
- Fruit - Banana: Banana is hands down my favorite fruit. I have at least 1 per day, and I always throw it in my protein shakes or peel and eat it. Bananas are loaded with potassium and vitamin C and can provide a nice natural, healthy energy boost. You can slice and freeze them to add to smoothies or just peel an eat. A really excellent, easy, healthy ready - to - go snack!
November's Healthy Foods
- Vegetable - Asparagus: Asparagus is another one of my favorite vegetbales to eat. I like to steam them until they're soft and then add olive oil and lemon. Asparagus are beneficial in that they have a ton of folate, vitamin k, and fiber. Very nutritious and one of my favorite vegetables to eat!
- Fruit - Apple: I have an apple a day before I workout. Apples are an excellent and nutritious fruit to eat. They're loaded with fiber and vitamin C, and are a good source of carbohydrates (optimal for eating pre-workout). Another healthy, ready - to - go snack!
