My name is Mrs. Colleen Nawrocki and I am the Fine Arts Teacher at Dorn and Sorrick Schools.  I teach Music and Art to all the first grade classes in North Palos School District 117.  This is my 34th year of being a teacher and my 25th year in District 117.
I have an undergraduate degree is in Elementary Education from Illinois Benedectine University and I am certified to teach grades K-9.  My Masters Degree is in Early Childhood Education from Governor's State University and I am certified to teach Birth-Age 8.  I am also certified in Earlychildhood Special Education from Governor's State University, Birth-Age 8 and English as a Second Language from National Lewis University, K-Grade 4.
Most first grade classes have Fine Arts class once a week.  We alternate between Music class and Art class, one week Music classes and the next week Art classes.  In Music class we work on: listening, following directions and activities that involve gross motor skills to lively music.  In Art class we work on: listening, following directions, and fine motor skills to seasonal Art projects.
I enjoy working with each and everyone of the first graders.  Check out our monthly themes and look for the monthly newsletters.
