Welcome to second grade at Oak Ridge School. I am very excited to begin a new year. We will be doing many exciting activities this year as we learn and grow together.I have been teaching at North Palos School District 117 since I graduated from Illinois State University in 1978. I have a Master's Degree in Special Education from Chicago State University and I have National Board Certification in Reading and Language Arts. I worked with children with learning disabilities first, before switching to second grade.(Because second grade is the best grade of all!) I love to read, ride my bike, walk, and travel. But teaching children is what I love to do most of all.My classroom is a place where children can have fun while learning. It is a place where students want to come every day because it is a safe and nurturing environment. We work hard and the expectations are high. But all children can learn with the proper support and teaching strategies. Welcome to Second Grade! Here are some pictures of Flat Mustang (the Oak Ridge mascot) and I on our travels together.
