• March 2nd is Dr. Seuss’ birthday.

We will be participating in a read-a-thon to earn a Dr. Seuss party on Friday March 23rd.  We will take the time in the month of March to engage in a unit of study on the wonderful author Dr. Seuss and his whimscal.

The object of the read-a-thon is for the students to read as many Dr. Seuss books as they can.  For all the books they read they will get Seuss money that in turn will be used to purchase snacks, drinks, and things at our Seuss Store.  I have attached a list of Dr. Seuss books and 6 copies of the affidavit form that needs to be filled out and returned each time a Dr. Seuss book is read.  Please read only books by Dr. Seuss and Theo LeSieg (Theo is Dr. Seuss).  A lot of Seuss beginning readers are not written by him.  I will have some books in our classroom and our library has them as well.  Don’t forget to check out books at Green Hills Library and the Oak Lawn Library, I know they have a large selection.  For those of you that participate in our book it and read aloud raffle, I will count these towards it so any Seuss title does not need to be written down.   Also, each student must complete two book reports on Dr. Seuss books.  One report is on a character from a story and one is on the setting of the story, they may not use the same book title for each report, they must be different.

Below is an attachment for more Dr. Seuss affidavit, you may also request more from me at school as well!
