My name is Erin Fitzgerald. When I was younger, I thought that I wanted to become a teacher when I grew up.  Now, I am thrilled to be living my dream, teaching reading to second, third, fourth and fifth graders at Oak Ridge Elementary School.

I have a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Illinois State University.  I also hold a master’s degree in reading from Olivet Nazarene University.  I joined the NPD117 family in 2007.  I began my career teaching fourth grade at Oak Ridge before I transitioned into the Reading Specialist position in 2010.

In my spare time, I enjoy getting to spend time with my family and friends.  I also like to run and take my dog, Ginny, for walks. And of course, I love to read!  My favorite books include To Kill a Mockingbird, the Harry Potter series, the Hunger Game series and The Help. As a reading teacher, I hope to work with my students to develop this important skill and to nurture a love of reading.
