How to Choose "Just Right" Books

Now that your child is reading, encourage him/her to pick a book that is "just right" for him/her.

If a book is too easy, it can help your child practice fluency but won't help your child with decoding or comprehension.  You're child won't become a better reader.

If a book is too hard, your child will get frustrated and learning will not occur. Therefore, your child won't become a better reader.

With a "just right" book, your child will be able to practice decoding and comprehension.  Your child will feel successful and learning will occur.  Your child WILL become a better reader.
