Welcome to a fantastic 2019-2020 school year. My name is Mrs. Christine Denson, and I cannot wait to get to know all of your children. This is my sixth year at Oak Ridge, but my second in 5th grade. I spent four years in second grade. Some of your children may remember me as their math teacher. I am going back to teaching Reading and Writing this year.
I graduated from Aurora University with an elementary education degree. I completed my English as a Second Language certification from Governor State University.  I graduated from Olivet Nazarene University this May with a Masters in Reading with a focus on Reading Specialist. Mrs. Turnock and I completed this together :)  I have previous experience in the classroom, and worked as an English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher. I can speak Polish and love being able to communicate with families in their native language. I enjoy diversity, and look forward to getting to know the diverse cultures, languages, skills, and personalities of all my students. My classroom will be filled with student centered learning, hands-on activities, technology, and social experiences to build well-rounding citizens.

Getting to know me…I am married for almost six years and have a 3 year old little boy named Bobby. I have two adorable dogs that take up much of my time, Rocky, who is a Miniature Pincher, and Shadow, who is an American Pitbull Terrier. This summer we enjoyed swimming in the pool, going to the park, and spending time outside. We went on little vacations to our family's lake house. As happy as I am happy to be home with Bobby during the summer, I am eager to start the school year and get back to teaching.
