North Palos School District's Elementary Schools are utilizing a standard-based report card.  In math, students are evaluated in separate domains.  Domains pertains to the content taught in the grade level.  Students are also scored on a 4, 3, 2, 1 descriptor.

    Standard Based Score Descriptor

    1

    Area of Concern

For example – answer contains many flaws, demonstrates a lack of understanding, or does not complete the task

    2

    Approaching

For example - demonstrates a partial understanding of the task which may include a less efficient method of solution, unclear explanation, lack of math terms, calculation errors, and/or missing labels

    3

    Meeting

For example - understands the mathematical concepts and/or procedures, sufficient explanation that contains some math terms

    4

    Exceeding

For example - use of mathematically sound procedures and efficient methods, clear and complete explanation using math terms, demonstrates higher-order thinking or more sophisticated understanding

    * To earn a 4-Exceeding for an overall score in a domain, a student must earn a 3-Meeting and a 4-Exceeding on questions where possible.
