Adam Kuzma and Yasmeen Kherwish were recognized with the Encourage Excellence Awards by the Kiwanis Club of Hickory Hills on May 5th at the Hickory Hills Community Center. The awards were presented by their teachers, Miss Stefl and Mrs. Koshiol, in recognition of being the fifth grade students who have best demonstrated the characteristics of hard work and a desire to improve during the 2016-17 school year.
Throughout the month of April, second grader students collected old markers to donate to the ColorCycle Marker Program to celebrate Earth Day. Glen Oaks students placed markers in collection boxes. The final count for the amount of markers recycled was 846! The markers were sent to Crayola to be turned into fuel. That is equivalent to two gallons of fuel to power an SUV and enough to move a city bus for up to 3 miles! Way to go!

The students will be able to use cash to buy school related items such as pencils, highlighters, and bookmarks, as well as Panther Paws to purchase a special "monthly feature."
