The month of October was National Bullying Prevention month. This year, Oak Ridge chose the theme “It Starts with Hello,” focusing on the inclusion of others, which started with a smile and friendly greeting. During Social Studies, students participated in activities that dealt with social isolation, its impacts, and what they can do to include others. This week was also spirit week, including days where students and staff participated in various activities. They wore shirts and name tags to encourage a “hello,” sported crazy socks to be in someone else’s shoes, played human bingo where each grade level wore a different color, and “put isolation to bed,” which was pajama day. Participation was high, and the students were friendlier and more inclusive than ever. As a culmination of the week, the entire school linked arms in the hallways of Oak Ridge to symbolize our connected Mustang family. Oak Ridge Mustangs hope to continue this theme throughout the entire school year!
