Oak Ridge’s Star Studded Family Read Night a Big Success

On Thursday, February 21, Oak Ridge hosted their annual Family Read Night event. This year’s theme was “Be a star! Read a book!” Staff, students, and families came out in full force to experience the magic of the evening.

Events included reading books with favorite teachers, making crafts, and playing reading games. Some of the games included reading bingo and the book walk, which offered fun ways for students to win new books. Music also played a big part of the evening, with Mr. Rafferty performing a book on the guitar in addition to singing a duet with a former student. The Scholastic book fair drew many visitors as well.

The most popular attraction above all was a reading themed magic show hosted by Willard the Magician and his assistant, Harriet. The magic of reading was all they needed to captivate the audience with both facts and whimsical tricks. A few lucky students even got to assist Willard and Harriet!

Thank you to those who attended Family Read Night! A special thank you goes to the staff who helped host such a great event for our Oak Ridge community!
