It Starts with Hello

During the week of September 23-27, Oak Ridge participated in the national It Starts with Hello week. The survivors of Sandy Hook began this program to help spread awareness of social isolation. Throughout the week students at Oak Ridge completed a variety of lessons to teach kindness, inclusion, and empathy. Every day there was a special theme to help students understand the importance of small acts of kindness. These included “say hello to someone new,” “in my shoes,” “we are all a team,” “put isolation to bed,” and “we are all connected.” The week culminated in all of the students linking arms throughout the gym and APR to demonstrate unity.
