S-P-E-L-L-I-N-G B-E-E as Popular as Ever

Over 650 Oak Ridge Mustangs participated in this year’s spelling bee. Students competed in individual class spelling bees during their media class. The winners of those bees then participated in a 2nd/3rd grade spelling bee and a 4th/5th grade spelling bee. The top 3 spellers from those two contests then moved on to the whole school spelling bee.

This year’s competition was extra special, as a brother and sister competed against each other. In fact, that sibling pair went head to head for more than 10 rounds to battle it out for first place. In the end, the older brother, Mohammad, was crowned the school champion. His younger sister, Lamees, took second place. For the fourth year in a row, Mustang Huda, competed and took third place. All three competitors will move on to the district spelling bee in January, where Huda will also be competing against her older brother.
