Dorn, Sorrick Among the State's Best for Providing Early Childhood Education

The Illinois State Board of Education announced on Tuesday that Dorn and Sorrick schools were the recipients of the coveted Gold Circle of Quality Award, which is the highest honor a school can receive for providing early childhood education.

Both schools, which are pre-K through first grade, are part of North Palos School District 117.

They have received the award the last three years for consistently demonstrating they exceed specific quality benchmarks, including learning environment and instructional quality.

The schools also continue to meet all program administrative standards, group size, staff/child ratios, staff qualifications and professional development.
