Howl Through the Hills A Huge Success

Temperatures in the 30s and the threat of rain did nothing to dampen the spirits of throngs of people who showed up to participate in the annual Howl Through the Hills 5K Run/Walk.

As usual, students, teachers and families from North Palos SD 117 joined others from Hickory Hills and Palos Hills for the popular event that took runners/walkers through the hilly streets of Hickory Hills.

In addition to the 5K run/walk and Kid's Dash, this year's event also featured a 200-yard race for students in the District's Life-Skills Educational Achievement Program.

In the green space just west of city hall were numerous scarecrows on display that were built by students from District 117 and St. Patricia School.

The scarecrow-decorating contest is sponsored by the Hills Chamber of Commerce.

Visitors had a chance to vote on their favorites.

Howl Through the Hills is an annual event that is co-sponsored by the city of Hickory Hills and North Palos School District 117.
